- FAQ about Philodendron Birkin Care:
- Why does my Philodendron Birkin have yellow leaves?
- The most common culprit: overwatering. This can happen in two ways. You have either planted your Philodendron Birkin in water-retaining soil or you are watering your plant too frequently. Ensure that your Birkin is planted in potting mix with added drainage, such as perlite and orchid bard. Water your plant when the first 25% of the soil is dry.
- Can I propagate my Philodendron Birkin in water?
- The short answer: yes. Take your 3-6 inch long stem cutting, remove any leaves that may come into contact with the water, and place it in a glass of clean water. In a few weeks, once the roots are a few centimeters long, you can plant your propagation in moistened soil!
- What is Philodendron Birkin’s scientific name?
- Are you ready for this? It’s Philodendron ‘Birkin.’ Many of the newer hybrid plants go by more common names.
- What are the Philodendron Birkin’s light requirements?
- The Philodendron Birkin has higher light requirements than other Philodendron varieties. This is largely due to their variegation; too little light will cause the leaves to revert. To care for it properly, place your Philodendron Birkin in a brightly lit window with indirect sunlight. A few hours of dabbled morning sun is appropriate. Harsh afternoon sun will burn the Birkin’s creamy leaves.
